I recall reading the exact same description with almost the exact same effect... the end result was me scratching my head and deciding to save the skill point.

"Skill Type Enchantment Spell"
Its an enchantment, and the damage is more than any mesmer weapon could do so its a bonus, my assumption is it isn't affected by armor since your weapon doesn't do the damage the enchantment does, so if you had a level 1 enemy and a 28 boss you'd do 8-34 no matter what |

thanks for the help all.
IMO, it still seems pretty worthless to pick as your elite abilitiy, but oh well. |

Illusionary Weaponry
Others will be able to more specifically list the exploits of this skill. However, some of the benefits include...
Armor ignoring damage Blocking, evading, stance ignoring. Blindness ignoring. Independent of weapon or weapon requirements (i.e. use the fastest you can find, sword or axe). There are also some downsides, but this is just so you are not so confused by the skill. The damage also increases with points in the appropriate attribute. As a point of history, many high damage Warriors were in fact War/Mes or Mes/War before Hundred Blades became an elite. HB used to only do 75% damage, but was not Elite. IW is Elite, but since HB wasn't you could use them together, and since IW does not measure the damage done by the weapon strike, it basically allowed HB use with no penalty. Now, since both are Elite, one must be a little more creative to get them together. Matt |

This is easy:
Mesmer gets rushed my a W/Mo. (All W/Mo love to kill Mesmers, you know.) Mesmer hits Empathy, IW, then wait a second and hits Blackout. W/Mo now takes damage per hit, takes 34 damage per hit from the Mesmer, and just when he's about to use his skills, they all turn off. If you are a Me/W you can use flurry to boost attack speed (because damage won't decrease with IW.) Or Cyclone axe, as it would do a straight 34 damage to all adjacent enemies. It's not foolproof by a longshot, because it's reasonably simple to remove enchantments. But you weren't expecting it, it can be a very nasty surprise. All that said, I do not recomend an Illusionary Weapon build, because everyone will know what you are right from the start and move to stop you. IW is best used as that evil little trick up your sleeve that no one had expected. |
